The intricate connection between emotion and health is both a common experience in daily life and a well-documented phenomenon in clinical reports. Traditional Chinese medicine also emphasizes the link between emotions and visceral functions, with sayings such as “excessive joy harms the heart, anger the liver, overthinking the spleen, sorrow the lungs, and fear the kidneys.” However, current strategies for promoting health and treating emotion-related diseases remain limited, highlighting the importance of addressing fundamental scientific questions—for example: How are stress signals processed by the brain into negative emotional states, and through what pathways do they affect peripheral organ health? This talk will explore the neural mechanisms by which emotions impact health, from the perspective of cutting-edge brain science research. It aims to enhance public understanding of this emerging field and to raise awareness of the importance of emotional well-being.
